If the WiFi Speed is lower than your Internet Speed then your router could be the cause of your slow internet. Considering investing in an upgrade or, if it was provided to you by your ISP, contact them for a further diagnosis.
If you find you have great Wi-Fi in one room and slow WiFi in another, considering re-positioning your router to a more central location. If you are unable to move your router, invest in a WiFi extender for the room that is struggling. You could also consider upgrading to a mesh network for better coverage.
However, if your WiFi Speed is good, and therefore not the cause of your slow internet, move on to the next step! The Bandwidth Analysis feature will give you a snapshot of what bandwidth the devices on your network are using at that exact moment in time. Note: this feature is best used for troubleshooting at the exact moment you are experiencing a slowdown — it is designed to give you a real-time snapshot and is not for long-term analysis. When the Internet is running slow, open the Bandwidth Analysis feature, select all the devices that are currently online and run the test for a couple of minutes.
If you spotted in the Internet Speed test that your network has a low upload speed then it is worth focusing on the upload speed in the Bandwidth Analysis. Whether it is a device hogging the upload or download bandwidth, to stop that device slowing down the Internet you can either manually turn off the device or pause its access from the Internet until a more appropriate time for it to have access. The DigitalFence feature scans a meter radius of your Fingbox and shows you any WiFi enabled devices nearby.
Method 1. Modify Internet Bandwidth Settings. Restart your computer, and when it boots up, check to see whether or not the problem has been resolved. Method 2. Reset Network Settings. Open CMD as an administrator. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let me know how it goes. Thank you! I successfully went through both options 1 after following the instructions for adding the group policy options and 2, but with no luck. The speed tests are showing download speeds around Mbps and uploads in the Mbps range. This problem seems to have started a couple of days ago after installing the most recent Windows OS update.
Any other suggestions? We have NorthState for Internet service and the guy came out this morning to make sure there was no problem on their end. He connected his laptop to my equipment and got upload and download speeds in the s, so it's clear the problem is somewhere in my PC Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
Safari is a bit more involved: Open Preferences from the Safari menu, then click Advanced , and tick Show Develop menu in menu bar. You can then open up the Develop menu and choose Empty Caches. Staying up to date is so vital to fixing bugs and blocking security threats that modern browsers typically download updates automatically.
So how do you go about deleting your browser? Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Opera also include handy features for essentially resetting the browsers, which will save you the trouble of uninstalling and reinstalling the entire program.
In Chrome, Edge, and Opera, find the Restore settings to their original defaults link at the very bottom of the advanced settings list. Managing your open tabs more efficiently will also help you browse faster. The more tabs you have open, the slower your browser is going to run though apps are always getting better at managing these demands, so keep them up to date.
Doing so can be as simple as keeping the number of open tabs you have down to a minimum. If you need to keep track of several sites to return to later, you can use a read-it-later service like Pocket or Instapaper.
A few well-chosen browser extensions can help with tab management, too. Although you should install as few browser add-ons as possible, extensions like these are genuinely useful. Over on Chrome and Edge, which supports the same extensions , xTab does a similar job. Meanwhile, The Great Suspender and Tab Wrangler are both great at closing or suspending unused tabs, and they work on both Chrome and Edge.
In addition to managing your tabs, other add-ons and apps can help you keep your browser running at top speed.
